Purpose:
The Choiceworks app helps children who are non-verbal develop communication skills by giving them interactive schedules and routines where they can indicate their personal choices and communicate their feelings. The app is a schedule that can be set by a caregiver and child on a mobile device, or the master schedule can be set on a main device and each schedule sent to a child on their individual devices. The schedule can be filled with preloaded or customizable images and sounds, and it lets the child choose between different images representing activities during open times on the schedule throughout the day. It provides different choice options for different routines like daily activities, waiting periods, and during episodes that require behavior management. It teaches the child how to set and follow a schedule, how and why to wait, and how to manage emotions and behavior. Completed tasks are checked off and rewarded. Positive choices are also rewarded. The child indicates their choice of the rewards by selecting one of the image. The schedule can also be saved as a PDF document and printed.
Target
Audience:

The Choiceworks app is designed for children who are non-verbal because of speech and language disorders or due to Autism or Developmental Delays. However, the app can be used for any young child who is just learning new routines and schedules or who is on a reward system for task completion or behavior.
